About the Authors
Igor and Muska Molitor

The husband and wife team, Igor and Muska Molitor, the authors of children fantasy series A Fugitive from the Land of Dragons, were born in Kosice in the Slovak Republic. Their parents studied at the same university, and for the first few months of their lives, they lived in the adjoining streets. They must have seen each other as babies, because when they met on their first day at the university seventeen years later, Igor had a strong feeling that he knew Muska from somewhere. They later found that that the place of birth was not their only connection, they read and loved the same books, watched the same movies, and liked the same artworks, even music. And, of course, in their free time, they both wrote, Igor mostly poetry and Muska short stories.

After graduating as architects, they got married, settled and had two children. For some time their careers in architecture consumed much of their creative energy although they never stopped writing. They published several professional articles and Muska won a science fiction competition in former Czechoslovakia with her short story Alternative. In 1996 they moved to Sydney, Australia a few years later Muska began writing a story about a little girl. As the piece developed and grew well beyond the scale of a short story, she asked Igor to join her, and their collaboration proved to be fruitful. They published the first three books from their series A Fugitive from the Land of Dragons in Slovakia with the publishing house Ikar, a member of Direct Group Bertelsmann. The first book of the series, in the Slovak edition named Mezzarthys, was awarded the Istron 2006 prize for the best original Slovak fantasy book.

With their rather demanding careers blooming, Igor and Muska had to put their writing aside for a while and focus their creative output into the architecture. Unfortunately, in 2012 Igor was diagnosed with young onset of Parkinson’s disease, and that brought his professional life into an abrupt end. The disease may have restricted his abilities to fully perform in his profession and it may have complicated his everyday life, but it didn’t diminish his imagination and desire to create. Since, together with Muska, they always felt that they owed the characters that they had created a chance to live up to their potential, which they only can through the readers’ minds and imagination, they decided to revisit their books and edit them for the present time.

They are currently preparing for publishing the English edition of the first installment named The Witches House. Concurrently they are working on the sequel to the series – The Dragon’s Hideout.
